Privacy Policy
This document describes Ford Motor Company, Commercial Truck division's (referred to throughout this document from here on as Ford Commercial Truck) policy regarding information received about you during visits to our Web site. The amount and type of information received depends on how you use our site.
Normal Web Site Usage: You can visit the Ford Commercial Truck Web site to read product, company and other information or use our online tools Build & Price, My Garage, Performance Predictor, etc.) without revealing any personally identifiable information such as name, mailing address, email address, phone number or social security number. The only information we collect and store during normal Web site usage is the name of your Internet service provider, the Web site that referred you to us, the pages you request and the date and time of those requests. We use this information to generate statistics and measure site activity to improve the usefulness of customer visits.
Use of Cookies. Ford Commercial Truck utilizes "cookies" on our site to provide convenience to you in the use of various commercial truck vehicle build and store services. Each cookie consists of a small line of specific data that is stored with your Web browser when you visit a cookie-enabled Web site. Your browser has options that will let you control whether the browser accepts cookies, rejects cookies, or notifies you each time a cookie is sent to you. If your browser is set to accept cookies, any cookies that are sent to your browser are stored in your computer for a period of time. Accepting cookies means that the data captured in the cookie can stay at a Web server, therefore the data is transferred over the Internet to this server. If your browser is set to reject cookies, you will encounter errors when you try to use service features of our Web site such as "Build & Price" and "My Garage" (both of these are upcoming features of the site). Although rejecting cookies provides you with anonymity, it also makes it very difficult to offer you customized services from our Web site. It may be possible for us to provide you with these services without the use of cookies, however, these methods would be less secure because all of your specific data would need to be sent to our Web site each time you viewed certain pages within our site.
Currently, Ford Commercial Truck uses "session" cookies to a) track your vehicle information as you use our "Build & Price" service and b) identify you by your login status when you access our "My Garage" service. These "session" cookies are stored only in your computer's working memory ("RAM"), and only last until you have ended your browsing session or after a designated period of time, whichever occurs first. When you close all of your browser's windows, or when you shut down your computer, the "session" cookies disappears forever. The data stored in these "session" cookies is a unique consumer identification code of numbers generated by our servers or code that helps us identify a vehicle you are building. The cookies are triggered whenever you initiate a "Build & Price" of a vehicle or request access to any secured page of our "My Garage" service including: "Login to My Account," "Create a New Account," "Update My Account," "Save," or "Access My Garage." Once activated, the cookie is sent to your browser along with your requested "Build & Price" or "My Garage" Web pages. Without use of these "session" cookies, we could not carry information about your vehicle builds from one screen to another and you would need to login each time you browse to another secured "My Garage" service page.
External Links. As you browse through different areas of the Ford Commercial Truck Web site you will sometimes be directed over the Internet to external Web sites for certain information or services we feel will be of interest or convenience to our visitors and customers. Please be aware that these external Web sites have their own privacy policies and may or may not collect personally identifiable information about you. Ford Commercial Truck division of Ford Motor Company is not responsible for privacy or other practices of external Web sites. Please consult each Web site's individual privacy policy for further information on their privacy practices.
We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy: A revised Privacy Policy will only apply to data collected subsequent to its effective date. Any revisions will be posted at least 10 days prior to its effective date.
